I carry you in my heart

This is something not written by me, but I had a hard felt conversation
with an old friend. I wanted to dedicate this to all the people who have
made a difference in my life, you know who you are.
I carry your heart with me
by E.E. Cummings
i carry your heart with me (i carry it in my heart)
i am never without it (anywhere i go you go,
my dear; and whatever is done by only me is
your doing, my darling)
i fear no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet)
i want no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you
here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart (i carry it in my heart)

You know that box I was telling you about? The one in my head, buried underneath piles of psychodynamic theory, and filled with lovely moments? That conversation touched me so deeply so I've filed it away there. It ocurred to me after that talk that I always knew, even as kids, that you would grow up to be this amazing person. And then I realized that we are past that period of saying thing like "when I grow up I want to be..." So were grown ups now and I was right, you are an amazing person.
I'm glad you liked the poem, although clearly it pales in comparison our teen poetry.
